Numbing Spray: Are They Safe?

Is Numbing Spray safe? It seems like every time you go out, someone asks you if you've heard of Numbing Spray. Does tattoo numbing cream work? Is it safe? What exactly is Numbing Spray?

The numbing spray is essentially a mixture of lidocaine and alcohol. It is widely advertised as a solution to dental pain. It also comes in other flavors such as mint or cinnamon. If you have ever had a toothache, you probably have seen this stuff at your dentist's office.

It has been marketed since the early 2000s but its popularity has only recently surged. Many dentists recommend using it before going under anesthesia.

Steps to use numbing spray for dental pain?

The numbing spray is often recommended for people who have a toothache. However, do not use it if you're pregnant or nursing, if you have any allergies to aspirin or other NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), or if you have liver disease. These medications may interact with each other and cause serious side effects. If you decide to try numbing spray anyway, make sure to follow these instructions carefully.

  1. Get medical advice from your doctor before trying numbing spray. You should only take it if you've been prescribed it by your doctor. Ask him or her about possible risks and benefits.
  2. Follow the directions on the label exactly. Do not skip doses, stop taking them suddenly, or change how much you use them.
  3. Numbness and tingling sensations may last longer than usual after you apply the numbing spray.
  4. Try not to swallow numbing spray right away; wait at least half an hour before swallowing anything else. Swallowing numbing spray could cause stomach distress.
  5. Keep some water handy while applying the numbing spray. Don't drink alcohol, coffee, tea, or milk with numbing spray. Alcohol and caffeine can increase stomach distress. Milk contains fat and sugar, which can interfere with effective numbness.
  6. Use numbing spray only once. Reusing it may irritate the skin, eyes, nose, mouth, or throat.
  7. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after touching your face or rubbing your eyes after applying the numbing spray.
  8. Numbness can last for several hours. To relieve discomfort, rub your gums or teeth vigorously until they feel numb. Then brush them gently.
  9. After you finish treating your teeth, rinse your mouth well with warm water.
  10. Keep numbing spray out of reach of children. Store numbing spray in a cool place away from sunlight.
  11. Read the product's label regularly. Make sure you keep your supply of numbing spray fresh and clean.
  12. If the numbing spray doesn't work for relieving pain, ask your dentist or physician for help.
