  5. Write down the time when the cream was applied. Do not let your child suck, chew or meddle with it.

  • For a child of 3 years or older: put a square of about 1x1 inch cream 20 to 30 minutes before the needle procedure. you must not use more than 5 grams in 24 hours.
  • For a child younger than 3 years: Put a square of about 1x1 inch 20 to 30 minutes before the needle procedure. Do not use more than 2 grams in 24 hours.

  2. If the cream gets into your eyes, wash it meticulously with water right away.
  3. Never take the cream orally. Use it externally.
  4. If the skin is exposed to rashes, scratches and abrasions avoid using the cream on those areas.
  5. You must be very diligent about the fact that you must not injure the skin which has been numbed. For example, coming in contact with very hot surfaces and not realizing it right away.

When to seek medical help:

If the numbing cream for skin causes the following allergic reactions, you must stop using it:

  • trouble breathing
  • swelling of throat, lips, face, and tongue
  • hives

Side Effects:

The numbing cream for skin may have the following side effects:

  1. Swelling or redness
  2. Severe burning, irritation, or stinging sensation at the application site.
  3. Dizziness or drowsiness when the cream has been applied
  4. Ringing in the ears
  5. Blurred vision
  6. Slow breathing
